Virtually all living cells maintain an internal pH of approximately 7.2. Proteins and enzymes function best at this pH. Even bacteria found in extremely acidic or basic environments manage to maintain an internal pH of 7.2 using some rather amazing tricks.

The pH value is almost certainly different for every material, living, or lifeless. And which pH value do you mean? Human blood? Wildebeast saliva? Unfortunetly, you have to be more specific.... Since there are different materials in different species.... making different pH values. Like stomach acid for instance. Stomach acid has a high acidity. But water, is completely neutral. Those are 2 different materials, both found in the human body. And that's JUST the human body.

mostly a neutral number of 7

There is a narrow "normal" concentration of charged hydrogenions or Ph in which life is possible... The range goes from 6.8 to 7.,35 in the intercellular space (intercellular fluid) however, the internal part of the cell (cytoplasm, cytosol), is more demanding, and the range goes from 7.1 to 7.35....Higher (alkaline) or lower (acid ) Ph, does interfere with the cell respiration, transport of electrons in the respiratory chain, protein synthesis, and stability of structural protoplasm proteins...(slowing the cell metabolism, or even floculation of proteins in colloidal state), if abnormal Ph is kept long enough.....
5 :
living cells have a more or less normal PH.
