What is the best way to start a business or live in the Philippines and generate income from the USA

What is the best way to start a business or live in the Philippines and generate income from the USA?
I am a US Citizen, and have a fiancee in the Philippines. I have money to invest, and more than 15 years of business experience. I have tried to get a job with the Embassy, however these seems to be very difficult. Outsourcing is a grand idea, do you know comapnies looking currently?:)

I know of three people from Mexico and South America that built up a business thru EBAY. May or may not help you.
2 :
Outsource IT development there with local labor.

Getting a Job in the Philippines will not be an option for you.creating jobs maybe. What I would do if I were you.wait till your married have her come to the USA and get a us citizenship. then if she's 35 years old apply for Philippine retirement visa so this way you are allowed to come and go to/from Philippines with little amount of money needed for deposit. If you retire in Philippines as a US only citizen you will need $50,000 or more depending on your age, to deposit in the Philippine National bank. If your wife becomes a us citizen retires in Philippines at 35yrs old with retirement visa then only $1,500 is needed to deposit. I myself had looked into joining and talking to the chamber of commerce in Cebu and talking to the Philippine American chamber of business in manila that would be a great source of info for you. I hope this helps you in some way

In Santa Rosa just south of Manila the Ford motor company are building a new factory and they need American bosses for the plant, or in same area they building a coca cola bottling plant. Want your own business and got the cash to back it then talk to Jolly Bee about a franchise, very popular in philippines. How about selling property, have a word with LPHI or Ayala in Makati. If you want to buy a hoe then again have a word with LPHI. LPHI has just changed its name to AVIDA

No offence, but your business experience in the U.S. won't mean much in the Philippines. An idea might make perfect sense and be totally logical to you, but Filipinos use a whole different rulebook. It's a totally different culture and business environment. That said, if you know Filipinos in the Philippines that you can trust, and that have business experience then there is money to be made. You said you have capital... that's good; the people here are desperate for capital. If I was older and had money to invest (and maybe a pension) I would definitely consider living here my wife and child and running a business. Alas, I am young and have credit cards and student loans to pay first... which is why I am going to back to America in a few days (after spending 8 out of the last 12 months here) to work and earn dollars, not pesos. Also, as far as I know, if you are married to a Philippine citizen you can get a work permit allowing you to work. Of course, whether you want to work 8 hours a day for $4 is up to you.
6 :
Buy real estate in US, rent it out, live in the philippines off the money you make from your properties
7 :
Try money lending business (similar to what Filipinos call "5-6"). Many small to medium sized entrepreneurs are constantly on the lookout for new sources of capital and many even go to loan sharks. It is very difficult to acquire loan from banks because of too many requirements and red tape.
8 :
oil and petrol products that is our major problem here

If I wanted to live in the Philippines, What would I need

If I wanted to live in the Philippines, What would I need? How would I get the required items?
I live in Oklahoma, and I am getting very tired of the typical everyday life here. Don't get me wrong, I Love America. It's just that I am wanting something new in my life. I understand that I'll need a job there and a VISA. Would I have to marry a Philippine lady in order to get a place? How is life there for Americans?(That question was for people who live there.) Is it easier to live semi-luxurious there or America?

if you want simple living dont live in Manila, go to small cities like cebu or davao, where life is cheaper, and nature is near.
2 :
you would have to get a visa to live in the philippines and get it approved or extended every year. You can rent condos in Philippines but living away from Manila is best and cheapest. I have a friend living in Palompon Leyte and he only pays 90 dollars a month for a 3 bedroom house he rents. He has to pay for electric and propane but that's not that much neither. I think for you it would be best to live in Cebu, because they have the US consulate there. As long as you have income coming in every month you will be good.

Getting a job here is not easy, especially for foreigners. Unless you have a college degree and an ESL certificate for teaching english. Jobs here are very low paying typically P250 ($5) a DAY for a ten hour day six days a week. Couple that with the fact that you cannot work here on a tourist visa. If you need to work the Philippines is not the place for you. Unemployment for the locals is near 30% or more in some places. Besides the fact why would they hire a foreigner and pay $ wages when a local will work all day for $5 ? The Philippines is a great place for a vacation or for someone that is retired with a steady income stream. Thinking you can just jump on a place, get a working visa and a job here is a pipe dream.

You would need a $1000 a month after tax's coming in for life. + set up money, once there.$8000. And that is a simple life on a budget. Not allowing for inflation.
5 :
You don't need to marry a Filipina to own a property in the Philippines. You can get a condominium and own not more than 40% of that property. However, you can own more than that when you are married to a natural born Filipina. Many retired Americans are enjoying there stay in the country. They say that they can extend there retirement funds and enjoy their lives better than staying in a retirement institution in the US.

Work is very difficult to get there. Alot of people are under the impression that work is readily available there or that foreigners would have preference when it comes to employers there but for both most are dead wrong. If you have not been to The Philippines before then let me tell you what the wages are like there. Any sort of job be it labourer, teacher, govt employee etc only get less than 10 USD for a ten hour day! I have no idea what you qualifications are but the only chance you would have in hell of working in the philippines comfortably is getting sponsored by a company based there. That way the visa and all documents related to being employed will be much easier to get. Tourist visa's can be extended to a certain degree but if your goal is to permanently live there then you need to asses your options. Those options could be marrying a Filipina lady but that in itself has some pro's and dare I say it huge potential cons. Mainly because for a white guy they don't realise they also marry the family that comes with the girl. So yes getting back to the point I wouldn't even consider this unless you actively go there and find out what you can and can't do. Location of where you want to base yourself is important but bottom line you need to know what your realistic chances of living/working there are like. I suggest you hit up your local Philippine Consulate and ask more about the visas and work requirements. If you haven't been to the Philippines then actually go there for an extended visit to see if the place really is for you. In any decision you decide to make ensure you are prepared for the outcome as in the Philippines things can be simple but at the same time they can be complicated beyond words. Still the most interesting place on earth I've ever been to though.

I'm a vegan and advocate for animal rights. Unfortunately, I live in the Philippines, where the community for vegans is almost existent. What can I do to be more active aside from just relying on the internet?

Move.
2 :
What are you complaining about? You have a golden opportunity to introduce veganism in your situation!
3 :
I don't really know sweetheart, move to the states. I'm proud of you for being a Vegan!
4 :
LOL! You poor thing! Congratulations on standing firm for something important, even though it's not the popular thing! Growing up learning about the "Civil Rights" movement, I used to wish I could have been alive then so I could make a difference. -Be one of the people in the crowds, marches, and sit-ins standing up for human rights, and equality! I felt "ripped off" that I wasn't around to help bring legal equality to the races in the US. YOU however have an opportunity to increase the awareness of "animal rights" in an area that is blind to the issue! Organizing a march is probably out of the question, but you know those reasons you don't eat meat? The suffering, the lack of neccessity, the abuse? That will still matter to reasonable people. (I'm pretty sure you have some there.) So, following the axiom "Start where you are" What can you do to get people interested in what you have to say, and what the issues are? Join Toastmasters, and TELL THEM! "Animals can SUFFER! Our actions, and the affects of those actions on them matter!" Research materials outlining the issues on whyvegan.com, ASPCA, or PETA and mention them in conversation around the cooler, or at lunch. Distribute copies of "Meet Your Meat" to interested people. Raise awareness through fliers, door to door, and editorial submissions, or letters to magazines, and news media. As you meet other like-minded people, you'll be able to attract more. Planning meetings will help come up with new ideas, and work with what you have already started by bringing this to Yahoo Answers. To quote Ghandi: "Be the change you want to see in the world." You already are! :-D Best wishes on your quest!
