To overseas Pinoys & Americans who went back to the Philippines to live, how did you decide & how hard was it?
What parameters did you use as far as financial, education, and opportunities are concerned in deciding? Also in financial matters, how much do you need on your first year after coming back whike establishing everything? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

thats really a difficult question because it depends on many different things. If you are the only one no immediate family then perhaps about 5k to set up your apartment, and depends on where you live an income of say 800-1000 bucks a month will get you over. I've been here 22 years and never regretted a day of it.

It was not difficult for me to decide to go back home. I should have stayed in the US for good, but my heart belongs to the Philippines. It's a home sweet home. When I already saved a million pesos equivalent, I know I can get a better living back home than most ordinary Filipinos. You might ask what I did with my relatives, well I hired them, paid them good so they help me earn back my money.

I have the same question in my mind right now, because I'm planning to retire from my overseas work in UAE after 15 years of being an OFW. But I guess, my plan will starts from my pocket, as to how much I have saved from all those years. The next move should be educating myself with the help of OWWA, with their reintegration program. They should be able to help me find an alternate means of livelihood, either local employment or a small scale business. (I already made contacts) From there, it will be an uphill climbing, but I'm ready for it.
